What size battery does a Mitsubishi Pajero Sport take?

Australian delivered Pajero Sports (QE and QF series, 2015 onwards) use a 12V battery in the D31L size class, commonly sold as N70ZZL, with CCA typically between 700 and 830 depending on brand.

Is the Pajero Sport diesel only in Australia?

Yes. Every Pajero Sport sold new in Australia has used a diesel engine, either the original 2.4 litre 4N15 or the later MIVEC updated version, so there is no petrol variant to consider for battery sizing here.

Can I fit a sodium ion battery to my Pajero Sport myself?

Yes, the physical installation is the same as fitting any 12V lead acid replacement. The main thing to check first is that the physical dimensions and terminal layout match your current battery or tray.

Will a sodium ion battery survive Australian summer heat better than my current battery?

Sodium ion cells are rated for discharge up to 70 degrees Celsius, well above what a lead acid battery is built to handle long term, and they do not suffer the same accelerated aging that heat causes in lead acid chemistry.

Do I need a different battery for a dual battery touring setup?

Your starting battery and auxiliary battery do not need to be the same chemistry or brand, but they should be sized and isolated correctly. Check our installation guide or contact SaltyCells if you are planning a new dual battery system.
