What CCA do I need for a Ford Ranger?

The 2.2 litre diesel is comfortable with 680 CCA. The 3.2 litre five cylinder and Next Gen biturbo and V6 variants need 750 to 800 CCA or more, particularly if you tow or run heavy accessory loads.

Does my Ranger need an AGM battery?

If your Ranger has Stop Start technology, which is standard on many Next Gen variants, yes, it needs an AGM or EFB battery, not a standard flooded one. Fitting the wrong type typically causes premature failure within twelve months. Confirm this before choosing any replacement, including a sodium ion battery.

Can I fit a sodium ion battery to a Ranger with a dual battery setup for a fridge?

The SC-NA1270-280 and SC-NA1280 are starting batteries and can generally suit either position in a compatible tray, but confirm your specific setup with us first, particularly if you run a DC to DC charger or auxiliary battery monitoring system.

How long does a Ranger battery last in Australia?

Standard lead acid batteries in this size class typically last 2 to 4 years in Australian conditions, often less in a Stop Start model or with heavy accessory use. Sodium ion batteries are rated for 3,000+ cycles, translating to a substantially longer service life in normal use.

Will a sodium ion battery handle towing, heat and corrugations?

Yes, on the chemistry and construction side. Salty Cells batteries are discharge rated from minus 30°C to 70°C and built to withstand the vibration that shakes conventional flooded plates loose. Stop Start compatibility should still be confirmed with us directly beforehand.
