Can a sodium ion battery run my fridge at camp?

Sodium ion starting batteries are built for high current cranking bursts, not sustained deep discharge. For fridges, lights and camp power, a dedicated lithium deep cycle auxiliary battery paired with a DC to DC charger is still the right tool for that job.

Is sodium ion better than AGM for 4WD touring?

For the starting battery specifically, yes on most measures that matter for touring: cycle life, heat tolerance and cold cranking amps, at a similar price point to a quality AGM.

Do I need a dual battery system if I upgrade to sodium ion?

Not necessarily, if you are not running fridges or camp accessories independent of the engine. If you already run a dual battery setup, a sodium ion primary battery works alongside your existing lithium auxiliary battery without changes to your wiring.

What size sodium ion battery do I need for my 4WD?

Most mid size dual cab utes and wagons suit the SC-NA1270-280. Larger diesel 4WDs with winches or heavy accessories often suit the SC-NA1280. Check your current battery's group size and Ah rating, or confirm with SaltyCells before ordering.

How does sodium ion handle Australian summer heat on tour?

SaltyCells sodium ion batteries are rated for discharge in temperatures up to 70°C, which covers the engine bay heat experienced on corrugated outback roads in summer far better than lead acid or standard AGM batteries, which lose service life quickly in sustained heat.
